The tradition of having a groom’s cake at a wedding celebration dates all the way back to the Victorian era. A groom’s cake was initially a gift from the bride to the groom and offered as a secondary dessert to the couple’s wedding cake. While an “old” tradition, groom’s cakes have reemerged as a popular “new” wedding trend loved and admired by both the groom and wedding guests. However, groom’s cakes have gone above and beyond the once simple designs.
Today’s groom’s cakes have a unique, creative design that typically centers around a hobby or interest of the groom. For example, the above coconut flavored cake was made for a groom who loved Hawaii and being out in the waves. Modeled after “Squirt” from the movie “Finding Nemo,” this impressive groom’s cake was a HUGE hit!
More often than not, groom’s cakes revolve around a favorite sport or sports team…
